The geographical location of Filzmoos, a fabulous, secluded lauch site with the majestic Bischofsmütze mountain in the background, the opportunity for short flights in the valleys of the surrounding area, or long-distance flights over high alpine ranges on the one hand, the village atmosphere, the friendliness of the locals, which gives the balloon pilots a feeling of coming home every year on the other. Both factors creates the flair and attractivesness of Filzmoos as „Balloon Village”.

Thanks to ist central, alpine location Filzmoos has developed into a "Mecca" für balloonists“ and is widely known as Austria’s Ballooning Village.
The 33rd International BP-Gas Balloon Trophy takes place from 14th to 21st January 2012 with approx. 40 balloon teams from all over the world.
On Sunday, 15. January 2012 the glowing balloons dominate Filzmoos. The Choreographed to music the colours and figures of the colourful balls glow in tune to the music in the evening sky above the picturesque village. A mixture of winter wonderland, starry skies and glowing, colourful balloons enchant the spectators. On the Hammer launch field the atmosphere hots up with mulled wine, jagatee, tasty snacks and cool music. A grand firework display at 8.00 pm rounds off the spectacular evening.
